Da Lat for Digital Nomads: WiFi, Cafes, and Where to Stay

1 min read
Pine forest and lake view in Da Lat, Vietnam

If you're looking for a da lat digital nomad base in Vietnam that isn't HCMC or Hanoi, the highlands city has quietly become a serious option in 2026. Cool 18-22°C year-round (no aircon needed), reliable fibre internet across the city centre, and a cafe-on-every-corner culture that's genuinely friendly to laptop workers.

Internet

Viettel and FPT both reach 1 Gbps fibre in District 4 (city centre, Tran Phu) and most of Ward 10. Coffee shops in the centre average 80-200 Mbps down and 50-100 Mbps up — fine for video calls. Mobile is solid: 5G covers downtown and most lakeside areas, with median speeds around 250 Mbps.

Cafes for working

The standout strip is Tran Phu street between Lam Vien Square and the cathedral. Standout cafes (no order): An Cafe (large tables, bright), Tiem Banh Du Du (best WiFi, slightly pricey), Phin Sai Gon (cheaper, busier), Tui Mo To (back-of-shop quiet zone for calls). Avoid weekend mornings if you need a table — tourists.

Where to stay

Monthly rentals in 2026: studios from $250 (further out) to $500 (centre, modern); two-bed apartments $400-700. Coliving spaces have multiplied — best of the bunch is Da Lat Coliving on Phan Dinh Phung (around $450/month including fast WiFi and weekly community dinner). Avoid the lakeside areas in winter — fog limits 5G and cools your motivation fast.

Visa

The 90-day e-visa is the no-friction option for short-medium stays. Border-runs to Phnom Penh or Vientiane are still standard for longer stays; the Da Lat-Pleiku-Phnom Penh land route is feasible but slow.
